Museu Nacional de Enfermagem Anna Nery

Museu Nacional de Enfermagem Anna Nery (Anna Nery National Museum of Nursing)

Conceived as a center for research and appreciation of nursing professionals, the museum is a tour throughout the development of the profession, showing from the most elementary techniques of the past to the advances and technologies that follow nowadays. Headquartered in a nineteenth century building in Pelourinho, the museum was founded in 2010 and honours Anna Justina Ferreira Nery (1814-1880), a nurse who performed valuable services in serving the injured in the Paraguayan War (1864-1870). Aiming to preserve the history of nursing in Brazil, the venue keeps a collection of photographs related to the profession and carries out cultural activities open to the public.
