Museu de Arte Contemporânea (MAC-USP)
Museu de Arte Contemporânea - MAC/USP (Museum of Contemporary Art - MAC/USP)
The Museu de Arte Contemporânea (Museum of Contemporary Art) of the Universidade de São Paulo (University of São Paulo) has its origin in the transfer of collections that formed the former Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo) to the University in 1963. The collection consists, among other names, of works by Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Tarsila do Amaral, Anita Malfatti and Lygia Clark. In the latest decades, the MAC-USP continued to expand its modern and contemporary collections with the acquisition of works by Henry Moore, Cildo Meireles, Joseph Beuys, Leda Catunda and several other Brazilian and international artists.
