Museu da Casa Brasileira (Museum of the Brazilian House)

The Museu da Casa Brasileira (Museum of the Brazilian House) is specialized in design and architecture and is one of the major Brazilian and international references in the field. Created in 1970, the museum is housed in a mansion from the 1940s located in a privileged area of the city of São Paulo. Its permanent exhibition features furniture pieces and objects ranging from the XVI to the XXI century. The neoclassical architectural project of the current headquarters carries the signature of Wladimir Alves, an architect from Pará, and resembles the Palácio Imperial de Petrópolis (Imperial Palace of Petrópolis). The museum is also a renowned research centre and in addition promotes debates, lectures and music performances.
