Museu da Cachaça
From Thursday to Sunday, 10am-5pm.
Museu da Cachaça (Museum of Cachaça)
Located in the tourist complex IPark, the Museu da Cachaça (Museum of Cachaça) is housed in a mansion built between 1851 and 1854 by the patriarch Dário Telles de Menezes, a Portuguese immigrant with experience in the manufacture of the distilled liquor made of sugar cane. The place is a liquor factory that has been operating for over 150 years. The visitors can see a simulation of the entire process of production of cachaça, a sugar cane field in the open in the centre of the museum and a corridor full of balm barrels that store the beverage. It also holds a rich collection of photos, movies, documents and maps, and a space set in the 1930s for cachaça tasting.
