Museu Casa do Pontal
Museu Casa do Pontal (Casa do Pontal Museum)
Considered the largest and most significant museum of popular art in the country, the Casa do Pontal Museum is the result of the collection assembled by French designer and artist Jacques Van de Beuque (1922-2000) over 40 years of research and travels throughout Brazil. Its collection houses about 8,500 works produced from the twentieth century onwards and includes the work of 300 Brazilian artists. Surrounded by vast gardens, the architectural design aimed to harmonize the museum galleries with the typical vegetation around the building - the Parque Estadual da Pedra Branca (White Stone State Park). Its permanent exhibition, organized by themes, brings together expressive works of the urban and rural cultural diversity of Brazil.
