Inhotim Institute

Inhotim Institute, was opened in 2006 and is home to one of the most important contemporary art collections in Brazil. Considered the largest outdoors art centre in Latin America, it was created to house the collection of Minas Gerais businessman Bernardo de Mello Paz who had already conceived the institute in the mid-1980s. The institute also houses a botanical collection of rare species from all continents. It is a unique space with galleries and pavilions where works of art and sculptures by Brazilian and foreign artists such as Cildo Meireles, Tunga, Vik Muniz, Hélio Oiticica, Ernesto Neto, Matthew Barney, Chris Burden, Zhang Huan and Valeska Soares are exhibited.
