Fundação Casa de Jorge Amado (House of Jorge Amado Foundation)
Established for the purpose of preserving and promoting actions to disseminate and boost the study of Jorge Amado's work (1912-2001) and of his wife Zélia Gathai (1916-2008), the Fundação Casa de Jorge Amado (House of Jorge Amado Foundation) was inaugurated in 1987. It is headquartered in a colonial building of the nineteenth century, in Largo Pelourinho, and keeps a rich and diverse collection on the life and work of the writer, with a massive photographic archive and more than 400 videos, including adaptations of his works for film and television, reports, interviews and award ceremonies. The author’s collection also contains manuscripts, articles and speeches delivered by him.
