The Bosque da Ciência (Forest of Science) was established in 1995 as an unfolding of the Scientific Dissemination and Environmental Education Program of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazonia (National Institute of Amazonian Research). There are almost 13 hectares of green space that preserves its biodiversity and offers visitors cultural, educational and leisure activities. There are also educational trails, visits to tanks and to aquatic animals nurseries, to the Condomínio das Abel's (Bee Condominium), the Casa da Ciência (House of Science), the Viveiro dos Jacarés (Alligators’ Nursery) and the Orchidarium and Bromeliadarium. The Lago Amazônico (Amazon Lake) keeps turtles and various Amazon species and the Paiol da Cultura (Warehouse of Culture) exhibits the work of Amazonians artists.
